Those who take the time to watch this should end up with a much better understanding of UBI, and perhaps reconsider any fears they have about people working less, or the supposed high cost of UBI, or the danger of high inflation. A US Basic Income Experiment that Wasn’t

In July 2024, the National Bureau of Economic Research issued a report from the researchers on an income-transfer project conducted in Illinois and Texas. It has generated global attention, with some commentators saying it undermines the case for basic income, others that it supports the case for it. This note is a critique of the project, and one point should be made very firmly at the outset: This experiment was not a test of basic income. Anybody claiming otherwise is either unfamiliar with the concept of basic income or is being disingenuous.

Basic income payments foster entrepreneurial spirit

In a study conducted by OpenResearch, individuals who consistently received basic income payments displayed an increased inclination towards entrepreneurship. They were more open to taking risks and investing in new business ventures. This consistent income provided them financial stability and independence to experiment with entrepreneurial initiatives. Adding to this, the study revealed that these entrepreneurs significantly benefited local economies by creating jobs and promoting innovation.

Die von der Universität Freiburg in Kooperation mit FRIBIS organisierte Veranstaltung bietet eine Diskussion mit dem Autor. Am darauffolgenden Tag, dem 5. September 2024, veranstaltet FRIBIS einen Expert:innenworkshop mit dem Titel “Basic Income as an Exit Device: Possibilities and Challenges” im Liefmann-Haus. Der von Jurgen De Wispelaere und Fabienne Hansen organisierte Workshop versammelt Befürworter:innen und Kritiker:innen der Exit-Option und deren Rolle in einer Grundeinkommengesellschaft.

Did Sam Altman's Basic Income Experiment Succeed or Fail?

An article to better inform the discussion of the results of the OpenResearch unconditional basic income pilot experiment. In this article, I will explain the nuances and how the results of this pilot provide some new info but mostly replicate the findings of previous experiments going back to the 1970s and only further demonstrate that what's at stake here is real freedom and the perceived danger it poses to those who benefit from the widespread lack of that freedom.

#30: Regelmäßige BGE-Sendungen aus Deutschland

PODCAST – Schon bevor wir mit unserer Sendereihe begonnen haben, gab es zwei regelmäßige Sendungen in Deutschland. So haben wir uns von der Sendereihe "5 Minuten Grundeinkommen" für unser Projekt inspirieren lassen. Susanne und Hans vom Verein "Thüringer für Grundeinkommen" haben schon über 40 Sendungen im Bürgerradio ENNO gestaltet. Weit über 100 Beträge gibt es schon von den Onlineseminaren der "Attac AG Genug für alle". Die Online-Seminare finden immer am Mittwoch um 18 Uhr (bis 19 Uhr) statt.
